Course Overview:

This course provides students with an in-depth exploration of Microsoft Word. The course is designed for learners who wish to master the features of Microsoft Word, from basic document creation to advanced formatting and collaboration tools. Students will apply their knowledge to practice activities, gaining the skills necessary to produce professional documents efficiently and effectively.
Students will:
- Create and Format Documents.
- Create multi-page documents, including business letters, reports, and resumes.
- Work with Tables and Graphics.
- Utilize advanced Word features such as mail merge, forms, macros, and track changes.
- Work with References and Citations.
This course prepares a student to take the Microsoft Word 2019 national certification exam. At this time, there is not a scheduled release date from Microsoft for 2021 versions of the Microsoft Office Specialist exams.
Course Outline:
Lesson 1: Creating and Modifying a Flyer
In this lesson, we will start by opening a Microsoft Word document, entering text, and inserting images into Word. This lesson culminates in the creation of a business flyer.
Lesson 2: Creating a Research Paper
In this lesson, we will learn the skills needed to successfully create a research paper in Microsoft Word. Changing line spacing, using shortcuts, creating a bibliography, and working with comments in a document will all be covered.
Lesson 3: Creating a Business Letter
In this lesson, we will learn how to create a business letter, including creating a letterhead and printing envelopes.
Lesson 4: Creating a Multipage Document
In this lesson we will learn to work with multi-page documents, including creating a cover page and editing lists and tables.
Lesson 5: Creating a Resume and Sharing Documents
In this lesson, we will work with a template to create a resume. We will also cover sharing your document via email and OneDrive.
Lesson 6: Using Mail Merge
We will learn the mail merge function to customize form letters and address envelopes.
Lesson 7: Creating a Newsletter
In this lesson, we will create and format a newsletter.
Lesson 8: Using Collaboration, Integration, and Charts
In this lesson, we will explore how to create charts in Microsoft Word. We will also explore collaboration techniques, including blogging, and how to link a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet to a Word document.
Lesson 9: Creating a Reference Document
In this lesson, we will cover creating and organizing a reference document.
Lesson 10: Creating an Online Form
In this lesson, we will learn how to create a template and create an online form for electronic distribution.
Lesson 11: Enhancing an Online Form Using Macros
In this lesson, we will learn more advanced features of online forms using macros.
All necessary course materials (except Office 365 software subscription) are included.
Certification(s):
This course prepares a student to take the Microsoft Word 2019 national certification exam. At this time, there is not a scheduled release date from Microsoft for 2021 versions of the Microsoft Office Specialist exams.
