Course Outline:

Module 1: Intro to Cannabis Basics and Budtending

Learning Objectives: Upon completing the Intro 14Cannabis Basics and Budtending class, you’ll acquire the expertise to converse about the cannabis plant, diving into its roots and primary classifications (indica, sativa, hybrid, ruderalis). Additionally, you’ll gain the capacity to explain the essential components of cannabis and their effects, list common cannabis products, understand their application, and explain labels on cannabis products.

Lesson 1: What is Cannabis? – Cannabis plays many roles, from leisure to healing. This lesson unveils the roots of the cannabis plant, illuminating its diverse classifications. You’ll also become familiar with its components, seeds, and an introduction to the endocannabinoid system.

Lesson 2: Components of Cannabis – In this lesson, we dive into the critical components found in marijuana, including cannabinoids and terpenes, and how they interact with our bodies. We’ll journey through terms like the entourage effect, exploring how cannabis and its elements can influence feelings of anxiety, appetite, memory, and various health conditions.

Lesson 3: Cannabis Products – This lesson dissects the differences between these products, CBD:THC ratios, potency labels, and the skill of interpreting product information. You’ll also uncover various methods of consumption and develop the ability to distinguish between high and low-quality cannabis products.

Module 2: Intro to Cannabis as Medicine and Budtending

Learning Objectives: After finishing the Intro Cannabis as17 Medicine and Budtending class, you’ll be equipped to understand the history of medical cannabis in the US, guide individuals on registering as medical cannabis patients or caregivers in various regions, identify states with medical cannabis use, specify possession and cultivation limits, and demonstrate proper use of various cannabis administration methods, including dosage, side effects, and interactions.

Lesson 1: History of Medical Cannabis – This lesson explores the roots of cannabis as a medicinal remedy and its evolution over time. It dives into ancient hemp cultivation, marijuana’s role in the US Pharmacopoeia, historical cannabis legislation, public research studies on marijuana, US political policies, and the history of cannabis research on various components.

Lesson 2: Medical Cannabis Programs in the United States and Canada – In this lesson, you’ll discover the qualifying conditions and registration processes for medical cannabis programs in different US states, as well as Canada. It covers a wide range of medical conditions treated by cannabis and details on registering as a medical marijuana patient or caregiver, along with possession and cultivation regulations.

Lesson 3: The Endocannabinoid System – This lesson provides insights into the body’s endocannabinoid system and its interaction with cannabinoids. It touches on the history of mammals and the endocannabinoid system, the role of cannabis in maintaining a healthy endocannabinoid system, and the consequences of a deficient endocannabinoid system.

Lesson 4: Conditions Treated by Cannabis – This lesson focuses on common medical symptoms alleviated by cannabis. It delves into peer-reviewed research on marijuana and the endocannabinoid system, palliative cannabis treatments, and symptoms relieved by cannabis, including pain, inflammation, anxiety, depression, and more.

Lesson 5: Administering Cannabis – Learn about various methods of consuming cannabis and how to guide customers and patients into the right dosage. This lesson covers cannabis administration methods, finding the appropriate dose, sensitization protocols, avoiding adverse effects, and cannabis interactions with other drugs and alternative modalities.

Module 3: Cannabis Dispensary and Budtender Careers

Learning Objectives: Upon completing the Cannabis 16Dispensary and Budtender Careers class, you’ll have the skills to explain the requirements for working as a budtender in the cannabis industry in a specific US state, Canadian province, or territory. You’ll also know how to gain experience, find job openings, create a tailored resume and cover letter for the cannabis industry, succeed in job interviews, and comprehend the responsibilities, education, experience, growth prospects, compensation, and necessary skills for primary roles in cannabis dispensaries and as budtenders.

Lesson 1: Government Requirements for Cannabis Industry Workers – This lesson provides essential information about the prerequisites for working in a dispensary in the cannabis industry in the United States or Canada. It covers age requirements, work permits, fees, and training needs, ensuring you have a solid understanding of the legal aspects of a cannabis career.

Lesson 2: Cannabis Career Basics – Discover the basics of launching a dispensary career in the cannabis industry, from finding job opportunities through job boards, social media, and networking to crafting a standout resume and cover letter tailored to the marijuana sector. Learn effective strategies for job hunting in this burgeoning field.

Lesson 3: Cannabis Dispensary and Budtender Careers – Explore the world of cannabis dispensary careers in detail. This lesson covers various dispensary job positions, including budtenders and managers, as well as their responsibilities, education requirements, salary potential, and essential job skills. Understand how to assist customers with medical cannabis product recommendations for specific conditions.

Module 4: Intro to Cannabis Laws/Regulations and Budtending

Learning Objectives: After finishing the Intro to Cannabis 18Laws/Regulations and Budtending class, you’ll be able to explain the current federal cannabis policies in the United States and Canada. Additionally, you’ll have the skills to describe the legal boundaries regarding cannabis possession and cultivation in a chosen US state and a Canadian province or territory.

Lesson 1: Cannabis Laws in the United States – This lesson covers federal and state regulations, public views, legal issues, important court cases, federal laws, privacy, firearms, and provides insights into medical and recreational programs, including details on cannabis possession, distribution, manufacturing, cultivation, and trafficking.

Lesson 2: Cannabis Laws in Canada – This lesson shines a spotlight on the Cannabis Act, federal healthcare initiatives, the role of Health Canada, qualifying conditions, and federal rules governing possession, public usage, distribution, and cultivation. Additionally, it illuminates the distinct regulations present in Canadian provinces and territories.
